Matt Pop is at it again! After the brilliant merge of PSB's Home And Dry and Open Your Heart (see news 16/12), this time it's purely a Human League track he's mixing. One Man In My Heart has been given a facelift and it sounds great. Click on image to check out. Wonder what HL track he will do next?

THE TOURS ENDS
Sigh! The tour is over! It ended on a high in Stockholm yesterday with another great show with positive reviews from both press and fans. I think it's safe to say this is their most successfull tour to date in terms of press reviews, which you can read
here. And most venues have been sold out or close to, so it's a good platform to build on for next year, hopefully with a new album to look forward to.

HUMAN LEAGUE MAKES A TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO COPENHAGEN
The band performed last night in the capitol of Denmark for the first time in 25 years. It was a triumphant return as they played a sold out Vega with the crowd going wild over the ultra cool show they delivered. And the danish press was quite generous in its reviews. Microsite of this event to follow soon.

There's a 12" white label out with a new mash up of a Human League tune. It's Reverend & The Makers' He Said He Loved Me that has been merged with The Sound Of The Crowd. Nothing spectacular, but you can buy it and listen to sound snippet

NEW ALBUM NEAR COMPLETION
In a recent interview with The Big Issue In The North, Philip Oakey reveals more details about the new album. According to him "it sounds like a little bit like a wobbly elephant falling down stairs" and "It's very, very much an alternative to your standard band format". About release dates and record companies he says "We're aiming at having something presentable about the time the tour finishes" and "We do have record companies very slightly interested". So things are looking good for a release of new materiale in 2008!

REMAKE OF HUMAN
On Ari Gold's new album Transport Systems there's a reworked version of Human. There's basically only the chorus left, while the music and lyrics has been altered. Can't say I like what I'm hearing as this bland kind of "soul" leaves me cold, but at least they tried to do something different. You can check out more on
www.arigold.com and you can hear sound snippet here.

HUMAN LEAGUE VS STAR WARS

And speaking of videos for Things That Dreams Are Made Of, I've just discovered an alternative, fanmade video, using footage from the Star Wars movies to the sound of the Love And Dancing mix. SUPPORT FOR DARE 2007 TOUR ANNOUNCED

OneTwo will be the band supporting The Human League on the upcoming Dare 2007 Tour, except for the Stoke and London date where Cassette Electrik will be warming up. A great choice for the electro purists. For those who haven't paid attention, OneTwo consists of Claudia Brücken (Propaganda) and Paul Humpreys (OMD) and will be a perfect match for Sheffield's favourite synthpop-band. You can hear some tracks of their debut album on myspace by clicking on image. Cassette Electrik is a more unknown quantity, but you can learn more on their myspace site by clicking here. Sounds like some quite decent electronic pop.

FANTASTIC NEW MIXES OF THINGS THAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF ONLINE

The label Hooj Choons has some incredible new mixes out of The Things That Dreams Are Made Of, including the Tiga Remix + mixes by Kissy Sell Out and Ilya Santana. I don't know the story behind these fantastic mixes, but it sounds like they've had access to the original mix tracks. And the german remixer Justus Köhnckes mentions on his myspace site that he was approached by Hooj Choons to make an official remix of the track. I haven't been able to find any more info, but I've written to the label and hopefully they can clear up things. But you can enjoy the mixes on their myspace-page by clicking on image. And you can download the Kissy Sell Out mix here.

COVER E.P. OF TOGETHER IN ELECTRIC DREAMS
Sunday Best are releasing a 5 track E.P. as a 12" and digital single with different cover versions of Together In Electric Dreams. Great variaty in the way the covers are done and not bad at all. Here's why they released it:

The original version of ‘Together In Electric Dreams’, penned and produced in 1984 by Phil Oakey of the Human League and seminal electro producer Giorgio Moroder, is a bone fide Balearic classic.  It has also been an end-of-night hands-in-the-air big-cheesy-smile Sunday Best party classic since Rob da Bank kick-started his mini-empire as a weekly Sunday anything-goes club night in south London in 1995.  12 years on it just seemed so very right to dust it off and give it a new lease of life!

It's out 4th November. Click on image to learn more details about the E.P. If you want to buy it, click here.

STYLAZ FUEGO TO PRODUCE NEW HUMAN LEAGUE ALBUM?
OK, the headline is misleading, but the australian hip hop producer has expressed in a recent interview with the online magazine
www.ukhh.com that he would like to produce The Human League! And that is about the only thing I understood when reading the interview, as he talks gangsta! Maybe Oakey should borrow some of Sulley's gold chains ;-) You can read the interview by clicking on image.

HOT GOSSIP RE-ISSUED ON CD

Repressed Records is re-issuing The Hot Gossip album Geisha Boys and Temple Girls on CD on the 25th September. If you know your Human League history you know why this is of interest. If not, then shame on you ;-). But you can learn more from the product description:

Having previously scored a UK hit in 1978 with 'I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper', dance troupe Hot Gossip took the brave move of recruiting British Electric Foundation's Martyn Ware and Ian Marsh - recent ex-members of Sheffield electronic synth-pop pioneers Human League - to produce their debut album "Geisha Boys & Temple Girls" in 1981.

Ditching most of the material that had already been recorded with producer Richard Burgess, Marsh and Ware decided to utilise material they had co-written for The Human League (Morale, The Word Before Last and Circus Of Death from their debut album Reproduction); their latest project Heaven 17 (Soul Warfare and Geisha Boys & Temple Girls); a song from an offshoot of The Human League called The Men, who had released one single on Virgin (I Don't Depend On You) - and a couple of other cover versions which included a song from the seminal Brian Eno produced Talking Heads album Remain In Light (Houses In Motion) to create this electronic curiosity which is reissued for the first time on Repressed.

You can pre-order it here.

DATASSETTE COVERS DON'T YOU WANT ME

I discovered a rather strange cover version of Don't You Want Me from last year made by Datassette. It's instrumental and made on a C64, which explains why it sounds like a soundtrack to Spaceinvaders! But I actually like it, it's almost like it enhances the melody. Just shows you can't kill a good tune. You can download it by clicking on image.

OSLO ADDED TO DARE 2007 TOUR

NEW DJ REMIXES PUBLISHED

I really need to pay more attention as I also missed that some talented Human League fan put 3 own made DJ Remixes online at the New Wave Outpost Message Board in August! And it's good stuff! 12" Extended Remixes like mom used to make them! You can download Don't You Want Me (Fred's Love Dancing Vocal Mix), Love Action(I Belive In Love) (Fred's Love Dancing Vocal Mix) and Non-Stop (Instrumental Edit) by clicking on song title.

A BUSY FESTIVAL WEEKEND

The band had a busy weekend up north in bunny Scotland as they played the Retrofest in Ayrshire on saturday and then the Fantasy Island Big Weekend Festival in Skegness on Sunday. No details has leaked about the first gig, but their performance in Skegness did cause some positive reactions on the web, with one fan describing Oakey as "the dog's chops" (that's a positive thing, right?). The setlist for the sunday gig was the ususal suspects, but still one fine list of classic hits:

Open Your Heart
Mirror Man
Love Action (I Believe In Love)
The Things That Dreams Are Made Of
Heart Like A Wheel
The Lebanon
Human
The Sound Of The Crowd
(Keep Feeling) Fascination
Tell Me When
Don't You Want Me
Being Boiled
Together In Electric Dreams

DAVID BYRNE VS HUMAN LEAGUE

We have another mess, sorry, mash up! This time David Byrne is ruining an otherwise fine Human League track. A new DJ Remix of Being Boiled has found it's way to the world wide web. And it's actually quite good! Not radically remixed, but more a sort of 12" extended version we never got with the initial release. Download Being Boiled (Chronovisor Mix v1.0) by clicking on image.

ABBA MEETS THE HUMAN LEAGUE

This interesting photo from 1982 has surfaced at http://www.humanleagueforum.co.uk. According to the source it's taken after their concert in Stockholm in March 1982. Quite funny to see the band looking a bit starstruck in the company of a member from a band the've cited as a major influence. You can see the photo in full scale here.

NEW REMIX OF DREAMS OF LEAVING

The excellent remixer Paul has done another great mix of a Human League song under the EMP name. This time it's Dreams Of Leaving, who has gone through a major change and been made into one hell of a stomping dance track with all sorts of extra synths bits added. Utterly brilliant!  You can hear  Dreams Of Leaving (EMP Mix) on the equally excellent Electronically Yours web site by clicking on image.
